February 18th and 19th at The University of Illinois Ice Arena. Sanctioned by Champaign Regional Speedskating, The Amateur Skating Association of Illinois, and US Speedskating.
Format and Registration: This year, the Land of Lincoln Short Track Championships will race groups of skaters based on both age and ability. Groupings combine male and female, class A & B, and special needs skaters into compatible racing groups based on age and personal best (seed) time. Racing will follow the “all points” format. Each skater will skate three age-appropriate distances, and all will skate both heats and finals. The longest distance will serve as a tiebreaker. There will be awards for 1st through 3rd place finishes based on age. The Meet Director reserves the right to make changes as needed.
Registration: Racing this year is limited to skaters 14 and younger only, and the number of accepted entries will be capped to the first 65 skaters to register. Advanced online registration, wavier, and payment is through www.champaignregionalspeedskating.org, and the deadline is February 13th, 2012. Personal best (seed) times can be based on practice or official races but are required for all registrants. (Skaters age 12+ with qualifying times are encouraged to register for Am Cup III that runs immediately after Land of Lincoln on each day.)
